Some "Health"y Thoughts...

At home, we have always followed a mix'n'match of ayurvedic and allopathic cures for common illness. My mom is pretty wellversed with ayurvedic medicines for common illnesses as she comes from a family related to ayurvedic medicines. My dad, having worked with a pharmaceutical company, has thrown light on allopathic medicines.So the first aid box at home is a mix of both ayurvedic and allopathic medicines and we often avoid a visit to the doctor for common illness like cold and fever unless it looks serious. Its usually some arishtams and lehyam for cold and paracetamol for fever.Ayurvedic medicines are preferred for cold as general physicians very often prescribe medicines like Vicks Action 500,one of the contents of which is a banned drug abroad or a course of antibiotics, repeated doses of which are not considered good in the long run and many times cause the illness to repeat in due course of time and the patient growing resistent to that particular antibiotic.[Thats my perception from my experiences. I dont want to enter into an argument with anyone who is a hardcore supporter of allopathy]

But here is one of my not-so-healthy experience with an ayurvedic practitioner. When my son was around 7-8 months, he had fever.To avoid giving him a course of antibiotics at such a small age, we took him to an ayurvedic doctor near our home. He prescribed a concoction of some 6 ayurvedic medicines in addition to Crocin drops. Crocin drops didnot surprise me as it helps to bring down the fever quickly. But it was shocking to learn that one of the ingredients of the concoction was something like an ayurvedic equivalent to a sleeping pill. The doctor might have prescribed it as my son was having difficulty sleeping with blocked nose. But the question remains should it have been given to such a small child? Wouldnt it have done more harm than a course of antibiotic he would have had to take?

I am feeling too low these days.. One after the other everything seems to be going wrong - both at work and at home. I have given up trying to put things "right"or rather what I feel right. I have tried that too long and has now learned its much easier to live when I let things happen and just move along with the flow. Highs and lows keeps happening..I cant anyway change what others perceive as right or wrong.. Its always relative.. Hopefully neither good or bad days are here to stay. This day too should pass..

Rechristened

For those who have visited my blog earlier, you will find that the title of the blog has changed. It used to be "My Thoughts" and I have now changed it to "Random Scribblings of a Wavering Soul". I feel this is a more meaningful name as I never use the blog as a mirror of my thoughts. But its just some scriblings once in a while. I am planning to make more regular posts on the blog and you might even see a new template in the coming days.

Mulla( A malayalam movie). I think my 1 year old son believes theatre is the cosiest place to sleep. Have never seen him sleeping so peacefully at home.

Do play Ludo/Uno/Rummy/Carom/Monopoly etc once in a while. But no favourites.. Or may be UNO as I feel that is the easiest of the lot..

Used to read mathrubhoomi weekly & Vanitha and reader's digest regularly earlier. But now with my son, its just anything easy to read right from balarama to week/outlook.. Months since I read mathrubhoomi & reader's digest.

Smell of rose/jasmine
Cake getting baked
Earth after the first rain

6. FAVORITE SOUND? Of MUSIC?

Favourite sound... My son's blabberings and "amme" calls....

Feel of having been cheated by someone whom I wished to be the most trustworthy person in my life..

Should I get up or lie down for some more time?

My kitchen - always keep a pack of Maggi & some snacks in my kitchen.. No other place can be reached as fast in Bangalore traffic.

Dhanush.. an acquitance from entrance coaching class to a trusted friend by the end of engineering.. The best thing I like about him is that he speaks out what he feels.. Dont expect him to speak out any sugar coated words when he doesnt feel so....

My Cot .. Books, specs, mobile etc goes to the side of my bed...

I wont mind.. Not because I am the best person or even a good person.. But bcos everyone I have met has there own good and bad qualities.. So I dont hate myself ..

Morning person.. But if I am forced to sit late, its difficult to get up early..

Dont mind whether its home or a hotel room.. but I should be alone and home/room in perfect order.. everything in place.. bed made, kitchen cleaned etc and left with some snacks, a good book, cosy bed and quilt....
